An EPA10 or GHG14 DPF CANNOT be used in a GHG17 aftertreatment system.

NOTICE
If the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and/or the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is replaced,
all applicable fault code diagnostics should be completed and the root cause of the failure
must be repaired. Refer to the DDC-SVC-MAN-0208 Heavy Duty Aftertreatment Failure
Guide. Failure to make the necessary repairs may result in a premature failure of the
replacement component. Standard core return procedure requires that the defective DPF
or DOC be returned in the container that the replacement was shipped in.

1. Clean mating surface for the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and 1-BOX™, flat band and V-band clamp
areas.
2. Install the new inboard V-band clamp and a new flat band clamp.
3. Slide the new V-band (3) and the flat band clamp (1) inward on the inboard DPF (2).
4. Install a new V-band gasket (1) on the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) outlet.
Note : In some cases, the inboard Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) cone on a replacement 1-BOX can move during
shipping causing the DPF not to fit into the opening. If this occurs, Refer to section “GHG17 Diesel Particulate Filter Re-Fit
Procedure” .
5. Ensuring that the ID tag is visible from the side of the vehicle, install the inboard diesel particulate filter (2)
into the 1-BOX™ configuration.
6. Install W470589026200 or equivalent and use adjusting screw on tool (1) to raise the DPF (2) to be level
with the mating surface for the flat band clamp.
7. Slide the new inboard flat band clamp into the correct location and hand tighten the nuts on the flat band
clamp.
Note : A small gap between the DPF and 1-BOX is normal.
8. Verify the V-band clamp flanges (3) line up.
9. Slide the new inboard V-band clamp into place and start nut.
10. Verify that the clamps are in the same location they were in before removing the DPF.
11. Torque the inboard flat band clamp to 42 to 47 N·m (31 to 34 lb·ft).

12. Torque the inboard V-band clamp to 13 to 17 N·m (10 to 12 lb·ft).
13. Loosen the adjusting screw on the tool and pull up sharply to remove it from 1-BOX™ configuration.
14. Install the new outboard V-band clamp and a new flat band clamp.
15. Install the new outboard flat band clamp onto the outboard DPF.
16. Install the new V-band gasket (1) onto the outboard DOC outlet.
17. Ensuring the ID tag is visible from the side of the vehicle, install the DPF (2) into the 1-BOX™ configuration.
18. Slide the new outboard V-band clamp into the correct location and hand tighten the nuts on the V-band
clamp.
19. Slide the new outboard flat band clamp into place and start nut.
20. Verify that the clamps are in the same location they were in before removing the DPF.
21. Torque the outboard flat band clamp to 42 to 47 N·m (31 to 34 lb·ft).
22. Torque the outboard V-band clamp (1) to 13 to 17 N·m (10 to 12 lb·ft).
23. Install inboard heat shield (1). Torque four bolts to 9 to 10 N·m (80 to 88 lb·in.).
24. Install outboard heat shield (2) and torque six bolts (1) to 9 to 10 N·m (80 to 88 lb·in.).
Note : When applying anti-seize to the sensors, do not get any on the sensor portion.
25. Install the DOC outlet temperature sensor. Refer to section “Installation of the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst Outlet Temperature
Sensor” .

26. Connect the batteries.
27. If the DPFs have been replaced with a new or a remanufactured core, use DiagnosticLink to reset the ash
accumulator. Refer to section “Resetting the Diesel Particulate Filter Ash Accumulators” .
28. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
29. If removed, install the passenger side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures.
